Donor Fund Types

The Community Foundation offers a variety of fund types that can be established by  individual donors or business owners.

Donor Advised

Donor Advised Funds are ideal for individuals who want to be personally involved in suggesting grant awards made possible by their gifts. If you have a range of community interests, you may find that it's an ideal vehicle for fulfilling your charitable wishes. Donor Advised Funds are typically less costly and easier to administer than other forms of philanthropic giving (such as private foundations). Donors work with the Community Foundation by recommending grants to favorite charities.

Corporate Advised

A Corporate Advised Fund functions the same as a Donor Advised Fund. The difference between each type is that the donor advisor of a Corporate Advised Fund is an individual affiliated with the business that established the fund who and appointed as the fund advisor.

Designated

When establishing a Designated Fund, the donor names one or more charitable organizations to receive distributions from the fund in perpetuity. A designated fund can be created for a scholarship that is sent directly to one or more colleges or universities. * Designated Scholarships are not subject to an administration fee.

Field of Interest

By establishing a Field of Interest Fund, you can target your gift to address needs in an important area of the community. You identify your personal interest area when making your gift; our board awards grants to community organizations and programs that are making a difference in the area you select. Your gift stays flexible enough to meet community needs in your interest area, even as they change over time.

Scholarship

In creating a Scholarship Fund, you invest in our community's future by showing students you care. The Community Foundation provides the expertise to help you meet your goals of awarding scholarships to deserving students.

* Scholarship awarding cycles administered by the Community Foundation are subject to an administrative fee, click here for more information.

Unrestricted

Unrestricted funds are established to support areas of the community such as arts and culture, economic development, education, the environment, health and human services, neighborhood revitalization and more. The flexibility of an unrestricted fund allows the Community Foundation to make grants for the greatest areas of need in our community.
